Henrikh Mkhitaryan is back on the Armenian national team.
After being left off the roster for two friendlies against Croatia and Sweden in the spring for undisclosed reasons, the Armenian national team announced Wednesday that the star AS Roma midfielder will be part of the squad when they resume World Cup qualifiers on September 2nd against North Macedonia.
Mkhitaryan also missed Armenia’s first three World Cup qualifying games due to injury. Despite his absence, Armenia won its first three matches against Liechtenstein, Iceland and Romania and currently stand on top of Group J in the tournament.
Following their tilt against North Macedonia in Skopje, Armenia will travel to Stuttgart to take on Germany on September 5th before heading back to Yerevan for a home game against Liechtenstein.
Mkhitaryan has made 88 career appearances for Armenia and has scored 30 goals in international competition.
