The Armenia women’s national basketball team is gearing up for the FIBA Women’s European Championship for Small Countries, which will take place from June 23 to 28 in Peja, Kosovo. Coach Tadeh Der Mardirosian is optimistic about the team’s prospects as they strive to improve upon their sixth-place finish in the previous tournament, where they concluded with a 2-3 record, highlighted by a narrow win against Andorra (45-43).
This year, Armenia will compete in Group B, facing off against the host nation Kosovo and Andorra. The team’s first match is set for June 23 against Kosovo, followed by a game against Andorra on June 25. The outcomes of these initial matches will determine their placement in the knockout stages of the tournament, where teams will vie for medals.
Armenia’s basketball program has been evolving, increasingly incorporating talents from both within the country and the diaspora, which is expected to bolster their performance in this championship.
