Marat Grigorian Secures 70th Victory with First-Round Knockout at ONE Samurai 1

In a thrilling display of skill, Armenian kickboxing star Marat Grigorian achieved his 70th career victory with a first-round knockout of Kaito Ono at ONE Samurai 1 in Tokyo, further asserting his position in the featherweight kickboxing rankings.

Marat Grigorian delivered a powerful performance at the Ariake Arena, stopping Japan’s Kaito Ono at just 1:51 into the opening round of their featherweight kickboxing bout. The fight began with both athletes exchanging blows in close quarters, but it was Grigorian who gained the upper hand, landing a series of precise strikes that ultimately culminated in a decisive overhand right.

The knockout sent Ono crashing to the canvas, and despite his efforts to recover, the referee halted the contest, declaring Grigorian the winner. This win is particularly significant for Grigorian, who had faced heightened tension leading up to the match after their earlier scheduled fight at ONE 172 was canceled. Grigorian missed the featherweight limit by 0.75 pounds, prompting Ono to decline a catchweight bout.

Ono entered the match with a reputation as a formidable striker, having recently defeated notable opponents including Enriko Kehl and Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong. Conversely, Grigorian aimed to reestablish himself within the ONE championship scene. Following the knockout, ONE Championship announced that Grigorian’s victory secures him a shot at the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title. With this win, Grigorian, a three-time GLORY world champion, has improved his professional record to 70 wins and 14 losses.
