Armenia Shines at 2026 European Sambo Championships, Finishing Third
Armenia made a remarkable impact at the 2026 European Sambo Championships held in Tbilisi, securing third place in the medal standings with a total of nine medals, showcasing the nation’s strength in the sport despite its relatively small population.
In a stunning display of athletic prowess, Armenia finished third in the medal table at the 2026 European Sambo Championships, held in Tbilisi. The Armenian team achieved a remarkable haul of nine medals, comprised of two gold, three silver, and four bronze, placing them behind only the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
The gold medals were earned by Karen Sargsyan in the men’s 58 kg sport sambo category and Gor Harutyunyan in the men’s 88 kg sport sambo. Their victories highlight Armenia’s growing reputation in the sport of sambo.
In addition to their golds, Armenian athletes claimed three silver medals: Mayis Nersesyan in the men’s 64 kg combat sambo, Arsen Avedisyan in the men’s 71 kg combat sambo, and Leonid Melikyan in the men’s 98 kg combat sambo.
