Eduard Spertsyan Eyes Move to Saudi Arabia Amid European Aspirations

Conflicting reports arise regarding Armenian footballer Eduard Spertsyan’s potential transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli, with preliminary consent indicated, yet a preference for a European opportunity remains.

Eduard Spertsyan, the Armenian national team captain and standout player for Krasnodar, may be on the verge of a significant career move. According to sources from Mash na Sporte on Telegram, Spertsyan has reportedly given verbal consent for a transfer to Al-Ahli, a club that recently secured a third-place finish in the Saudi Pro League.

The proposed deal is a lucrative three-year contract valued at €10 million annually, excluding bonuses, placing Spertsyan among a roster that features high-profile players such as Ivan Toney, Riyad Mahrez, and Édouard Mendy. However, while the initial agreement appears promising, it remains unconfirmed as Spertsyan’s father stated in an interview with MatchTV that his son’s primary goal is to secure a move to a European club.

In the 2025-26 season, Spertsyan’s impressive performance included 13 goals and 16 assists, leading the Russian Premier League in both assists and goal contributions. His contributions were pivotal in Krasnodar’s triumph in the Russian Premier League during the 2024-25 season, showcasing his talent on the field and igniting speculation about his future.
