Gevorg Gasparyan Summits Mount Everest for Armenian Families in Need
Gevorg Gasparyan has made history by reaching the summit of Mount Everest on May 20, raising the Armenian flag at the peak while supporting a vital fundraising campaign aimed at aiding families in dire situations back home in Armenia.
Gevorg Gasparyan completed his remarkable climb to the summit of Mount Everest on May 20, 2023, after beginning his ascent on April 7. This extraordinary achievement not only marks a personal milestone for Gasparyan but also serves a greater purpose as he uses the platform of his climb to raise awareness and funds for Armenian families in need.
His expedition was part of the “Build 3 Homes — Change the Lives of 3 Families” campaign, organized in collaboration with reArmenia and the Fuller Center for Housing Armenia. Gasparyan celebrated reaching the summit at 9:30 a.m., expressing that it was a moment he had waited for his entire life and noting that he may be the first Armenian from Armenia to achieve this feat.
The funds raised through this initiative are directed towards three specific families facing severe living conditions. The Grigoryan family, consisting of seven members across three generations, lives in a home devoid of basic necessities, including a proper kitchen and hygienic bathroom. Two family members suffer from cerebral palsy, and another requires a wheelchair due to a leg amputation.
Similarly, the Petrosyan family resides in a dangerous, deteriorating dormitory and faces financial challenges that halted the construction of their new home halfway. Finally, the Manukyan family has endured years in an unfinished house after the loss of the father, relying solely on farming for their livelihood.
Gasparyan urges the public to support the cause by visiting his Instagram page for more information on how to contribute and assist these families in need.
