Kurdish MMA Fighter Namo Fazil Calls Out Arman Tsarukyan Over Controversial Remarks
In a recent livestream, MMA fighter Arman Tsarukyan sparked controversy by using the term “gypsy” when discussing Kurdistan, leading to a heated response from Kurdish fighter Namo Fazil, who took to social media to express his outrage.
During a livestream with Nina Drama, Tsarukyan was discussing Kurdistan when he made a reference to the region’s lack of recognized statehood and used the term “gypsy” in relation to Kurdish pastoral nomadic history. This comment did not sit well with Fazil, who felt the term was disrespectful and derogatory towards Kurdish culture.
Fazil, known for his fighting prowess and commitment to representing Kurdish heritage in the MMA community, reacted strongly by posting several Instagram stories aimed directly at Tsarukyan. In these posts, he warned Tsarukyan that “disrespect has consequences” and challenged him to confront him in person when they meet in California.
This incident has drawn attention not only for the exchange between the fighters but also for its implications regarding cultural sensitivity in sports. Fazil is set to compete against Armenian fighter Jake Babian at MVP MMA 1 on May 16 at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, potentially adding more tension to the fight given the recent developments.
