Armenia Shines at 2026 European Wrestling Championships with Five Medals
Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestling team has achieved remarkable success at the 2026 European Wrestling Championships, finishing with five medals and tying for the highest total alongside Azerbaijan, Georgia, and the Individual Neutral Athletes.
The 2026 European Wrestling Championships have proven to be a significant event for Armenia, where the country’s Greco-Roman wrestlers showcased their skills and resilience. Leading the charge was Malkhas Amoyan, who secured his fifth career European gold medal in the 77 kg category.
Armenia’s stellar performance included a total of five medals—two gold, one silver, and three bronze—placing them in a tie for the top spot in the overall medal standings. Suren Aghajanyan added a silver medal in the competitive 60 kg weight class, while Armenian wrestlers Slavik Galstyan, Gaspar Terteryan, and Karen Aslanyan each earned bronze medals in their respective categories of 67 kg, 72 kg, and 63 kg.
This accomplishment not only highlights the talent within the Armenian wrestling community but also marks an important moment in the sport’s history for the nation, as they successfully outperformed traditional rivals, such as Turkey, in this prestigious championship.
