Armenian Music Takes Center Stage at Major Global Sports Events

Armenian music has recently garnered attention on some of the biggest platforms in global sports, showcased during both the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics.

Following the Super Bowl LX halftime show where Bad Bunny sampled Charles Aznavour’s iconic song “Hier Encore,” Armenian music made another appearance just two days later at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan. Russian figure skater Petr Gummenik performed a routine to “Waltz 1805,” a composition by Edgar Hakobyan, during the men’s singles short program after his original music choice was disqualified due to copyright concerns.

Further highlighting the international reach of Armenian music, pairs skaters Nikita Rakhmanin and Karina Akopova are set to perform to “Artsakh,” composed by Ara Gevorgyan, later this week in Milan. This series of performances underscores the growing recognition and integration of Armenian cultural elements in significant athletic events on a global scale, reflecting a rich heritage that resonates with diverse audiences.
