Armenian Weightlifter Aleksandra Grigoryan Wins Gold at 2025 European Youth Championships
In a remarkable display of strength and resilience, 20-year-old Armenian weightlifter Aleksandra Grigoryan secured the gold medal in the 58 kg category at the 2025 European Youth Championships, setting new records in the process.
Grigoryan’s outstanding performance at the championships took place in front of a spirited crowd, where she successfully lifted a combined total of 214 kg, achieving an impressive 91 kg in the snatch and 123 kg in the clean & jerk. Her remarkable lifts not only earned her the top podium spot but also established new European youth records in both the clean & jerk and the total weight lifted.
Even more impressive was Grigoryan’s ability to overcome adversity during her final lift. Despite suffering a minor back injury, she remained focused and executed her lift flawlessly, ensuring her place as the champion.
Her victory was hard-fought, with Spanish competitor Maria Olalla and Romania’s Dana Berchi closely trailing her, lifting 205 kg and 204 kg respectively. The championships have marked a significant milestone in Grigoryan’s burgeoning career, showcasing her potential as a future star in the sport.
