Artur Sargsian Claims Silver at World Wrestling Championships

Armenian wrestler Artur Sargsian secured a silver medal in the Men’s Greco-Roman 97kg category at the World Wrestling Championships, marking a significant achievement despite a close final against Iran’s Mohammad Hadi Saravi.

Competing under the Russian flag, Sargsian faced off against Saravi in a tense match that concluded with a score of 3-1 in favor of the Iranian wrestler. This latest medal adds to Sargsian’s accolades, making it his second career medal at the World Championships, following his bronze victory at the 2021 tournament held in Oslo.

Sargsian’s performance has placed him among the elite wrestlers in the tournament, and he stands as the third Armenian athlete to earn a medal this year. He joins Malkhas Amoyan, who won gold, and Hrachya Poghosyan, who secured bronze, further highlighting Armenia’s strong presence in the wrestling world. The achievements of these athletes not only showcase their individual talents but also underscore Armenia’s growing reputation in international wrestling competitions.
