Artur Davtyan, Simon Martirosyan Receive Hero’s Welcome In Yerevan After Winning Olympic Medals
After years of hard work, it’s time for Armenian Olympic medalists to take a deep breath and celebrate their accomplishments.
The celebrations began with Simon Martirosyan and Artur Davtyan getting a hero’s welcome by a large crowd at Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan as they entered sporting their medals.
Davtyan became the first Olympian representing Armenia to win a medal in gymnastics when he took the bronze in the vault apparatus. Martirosyan, who had hopes for a gold medal, brought home a silver medal after failing his final two clean-and-jerk attempts in the 109kg weightlifting event.
