Hovhannes Bachkov, Varsenik Manucharyan bear Armenian flag during olympics opening ceremony
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics are finally here.
17 Armenian Olympians marched during the Parade of Nations on Friday night in Tokyo with boxer Hovhannes Bachkov and swimmer Varsenik Manucharyan holding the Armenian tri-color during the Opening Ceremony.
Bachkov will compete in the men’s lightweight tournament, which begins on Sunday. His Round of 32 fight will be against Alston Ryan of Antigua and Barbuda.
Manucharyan is the youngest Armenian Olympian at the age of 17. She will compete in the women’s 100 meter freestyle swimming event on July 30.
