Armenian Weightlifters Shine at 2026 European Championships in Batumi
At the 2026 European Weightlifting Championships held in Batumi, Armenian athletes showcased their strength and skill, achieving a remarkable total of eight medals, including three golds, solidifying their status as a top weightlifting nation in Europe.
Armenia’s exceptional performance at the championships was highlighted by gold medals won by Varazdat Lalayan in the +110 kg division, Garik Karapetyan in the 110 kg division, and Emma Poghosyan in the women’s 86 kg category.
In addition to the golds, the Armenian team secured four silver medals through talented competitors Aleksandra Grigoryan, Garnik Cholakyan, Gor Sahakyan, and Ara Aghanyan. Furthermore, Martin Poghosyan added to the medal tally by clinching a bronze in the 79 kg division.
