Varazdat Lalayan Dominates at European Weightlifting Championships, Retains Title as Europe’s Strongest Man
Armenia’s Varazdat Lalayan showcased his exceptional strength at the 2026 European Weightlifting Championships, securing gold in the men’s +110 kg division and marking his third consecutive European title.
At the 2026 European Weightlifting Championships, held this past weekend, Varazdat Lalayan of Armenia has reaffirmed his status as Europe’s elite weightlifter. With a remarkable performance in the men’s +110 kg category, Lalayan successfully lifted an impressive 200 kg in the snatch, followed by a stunning 210 kg, ultimately taking first place in the snatch competition.
Competing against some of the continent’s best, Lalayan outperformed Individual Neutral Athletes Daniil Vagaitsev and Timur Naniev, who secured silver and bronze medals, respectively. This victory not only represents another significant accolade for Lalayan but also solidifies his reputation among the world’s leading super heavyweights.
