Armenian Boxing Federation Denounces Controversial Officiating at World Boxing Cup

The Armenian Boxing Federation has leveled serious accusations against the officiating at the World Boxing Cup, labeling the judging as ‘shameful’ following contentious bouts that led to the elimination of two of its premier boxers.

The criticism from the Armenian Boxing Federation comes in response to two significant controversies involving its athletes, Artur Bazeyan and Ararat Harutyunyan. In Bazeyan’s match, officials halted the contest mid-round despite evidence of his dominance in the ring. In a separate event, Harutyunyan lost a decision despite clearly outpacing his rival in the later stages of the bout, during which his opponent even received a warning for infractions.

The federation contends that these decisions not only disrupted the athletes’ careers but also cast a shadow on the integrity of the sport. They are calling for accountability from the international boxing authorities, demanding a review of the officiating standards employed during the tournament. Such strong remarks highlight the frustration within the Armenian boxing community over what they perceive as unfair treatment of their athletes on the global stage.
