Armenia Falls Short Against Belarus in Friendly Match
In an international friendly held on Sunday in Yerevan, Armenia suffered a 2-1 defeat against Belarus, hampered by the absence of key player Eduard Spertsyan due to injury.
The match showcased a tough outing for Armenia, who were unable to capitalize on their home advantage in the absence of Spertsyan. Belarus struck first, taking a 1-0 lead just eight minutes into the game with a goal from Yauhen Yablonski. The visitors maintained their pressure and extended their lead to 2-0 in the 72nd minute when Armenia’s Nair Tiknizyan inadvertently scored an own goal.
Despite a spirited effort, Armenia managed to pull one goal back in the 88th minute through a penalty converted by Vahan Bichakhcyan. However, it was too little, too late as the match ended 2-1 in favor of Belarus. This defeat marks a setback for the Armenian squad as they prepare for their upcoming friendly match against Kazakhstan on June 6.
