Mike Bajakian Joins Michigan State Spartans as Quarterbacks Coach for 2026
The Michigan State Spartans have announced the hiring of veteran offensive coach Mike Bajakian as their quarterbacks coach for the upcoming 2026 season, marking his return to the Big Ten.
Mike Bajakian, a seasoned offensive coach, has been hired by the Michigan State Spartans to fill the role of quarterbacks coach for the 2026 season. Bajakian comes to East Lansing after a recent stint as the offensive coordinator at the University of Massachusetts, where he showcased his coaching abilities.
Before his time at UMass, Bajakian built an impressive résumé with previous coaching positions at prominent programs, including Northwestern, Boston College, Tennessee, Cincinnati, and Central Michigan. His experience is further underscored by a notable period in the NFL, where he served as the quarterback coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2015 to 2018, working closely with quarterback Jameis Winston.
A former quarterback himself, Bajakian played at Williams College between 1992 and 1995. His extensive background in both college football and professional coaching positions him well to develop Michigan State’s next generation of quarterbacks.
