Trio Of Armenians Take Center Stage In Two High-Profile MMA Events
Three Armenians will take center stage this weekend in two high-profile MMA events in different parts of the world.
Headlining the triplet is Bellator MMA middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi, who aims to defend his belt for the second time against undefeated Austin Vanderford Friday night in Dublin.
Mousasi has won 11 of his last 12 fights dating back to 2015. He reclaimed the Bellator middleweight belt in 2020 against Douglas Lima before defending it in August 2021 against John Salter.
The following night in Las Vegas, two bright up-and-comers try to continue the positive trajectory in their young careers. Arman Tsarukyan (4-1 UFC, 17-2 MMA) aims to win his fifth consecutive fight when he takes on Joel Alvarez in a lightweight bout. Tsarukyan earned his first career finish in his UFC career during his last fight when he knocked out Christos Giagos in the first round.
Finally, Armen Petrosyan (6-1 MMA) makes his UFC debut after he earned a contract with a devastating knockout win on UFC president Dana White’s “Contender Series” last October. Petrosyan will fight Gregory Rodrigues in his first UFC bout in the middleweight division.
