Simon Martirosyan Settles For Bronze After Failing On Final Two Lifts

Two-time Olympic silver medalist Simon Martirosyan fell short of capturing his third consecutive World Championship gold Thursday in Tashkent.

The Uzbekistani crowd in Tashkent cheered loudly after Martirosyan’s failed lifts as Uzbek lifters Akbar Djuraev and Ruslan Nurudinov won gold and silver, respectively.

The Haykashen native settled for a bronze medal in the 109 kg division after failing on his final two “clean-and-jerk” lifts.
