Armenia’s Nations League Group Opponents Revealed

Armenia’s opponents for the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League are officially set.

Armenia was drawn into Group B1 along with Ukraine, Ireland and Scotland for the tournament which will kick off in June. Armenia is the lowest-ranked member of the B-league after being promoted by winning Group C2 in the 2020-21 UEFA Nations League.

Armenia hasn’t won in eight all-time meetings against Ukraine. They have five losses and three draws in the eight matches, but the last meeting came in 2003. Armenia has played Ireland twice and lost both meetings and has never played against Scotland.

“It’s a rather tough group, with a team having played in A league last season,” Armenia head coach Joaquin Caparros told the Armenian Football Federation Instagram account. “The fact that we are now facing such teams means that we have also made progress and are at a relevant level. The teams are prepared very well physically and technically. We have to be competitive and play for a win in all the matches. Of course, Ukraine are the favorites, but Republic of Ireland and Scotland are also good teams”
