Arman Tsarukyan And Christos Giagos To Collide In UFC Lightweight Bout On September 18 In Las Vegas
Arman Tsarukyan wanted to fight a ranked opponent in his next UFC bout, but that won’t be happening.
The Armenian had his sights on No. 8-ranked lightweight contender Dan Hooker, as he spent the last week in a verbal joust with the New Zealand native. But MMA Junkie reports the No. 15-ranked Tsarukyan will instead fight Christos Giagos on September 18 in Las Vegas.
Tsarukyan (16-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) is coming off a three-fight win streak with his last victory coming against Matt Frevola in January. The win propelled him into the top 15 of the UFC and had the Armenian calling out Hooker for a potential fight in an ugly Twitter spat.
Instead, Tsarukyan signed on to fight Giagos (19-8 MMA, 4-2 UFC), who is coming off a performance bonus victory over Sean Soriano at UFC 262.
