Olympic Basketball: Brian Goorjian leads Australia To First-Ever Olympic Medal In Men’s Basketball
Coaches around the NBA might need to ask Australia men’s basketball head coach Brian Goorjian for some advice on how to slow down Luka Doncic.
Goorjian and the Australians limited the NBA superstar to just 22 points as the Aussies topped Slovenia, 107-93, in the bronze medal game of the Toyko Olympics on Saturday.
Patty Mills scored 42 points and dished out nine assists in the historic win for the Aussies, who lost to the eventual gold medal winning United States in the semifinal.
Goorjian, who was born in Glendale, Calif. and attended Crescenta Valley High School, played his professional career in Australia before becoming a six-time National Basketball League champion in Australia’s premier basketball league.
