OLYMPIC TRACK AND FIELD: LEVON AGHASYAN FAILS TO QUALIFY FOR TRIPLE JUMP FINAL

It wasn’t the way Levon Aghasyan hoped his second Olympics would end.

The Armenian from Kapan came in at 21st in the men’s triple jump qualifying round and failed to advance to the final Tuesday morning in Tokyo. Aghasyan’s second attempt came in at 16.42 meters. Only the top 12 qualified for the final.

Aghasyan expressed displeasure in an Instagram post following the event.

“Well.. Ended the season not as planned.. 21st in Olympics..,” Aghasyan wrote. “Anyway it’s huuuge experience for me and of course great lesson to learn. Thanks to my family, my friends and everyone who supported me during this difficult road to Tokyo. Soon everything will fall into place! I will persist untill I succeed!”
