Olympic Men’s Swimming: Artur Barseghyan Eliminated From 100 M FREESTYLE After Preliminary heat
Dreams can be crushed in less than a minute in short-course Olympic swimming and that’s what happened to Armenia’s Artur Barseghyan on Tuesday night in Tokyo.
Barseghyan clocked in at 49.78 seconds during the fourth heat of the 100-meter freestyle race and did not qualify to the semifinals of the prestigious Olympic event. He finished 38th out of 71 swimmers — 1.34 seconds shy of the top-16 cutoff to advance.
American Caeleb Dressel, who is seeking six gold medals at the Olympic games, had the second-highest score heading into the semis.
Barseghyan will participate in the 50-meter freestyle event later this week.
