Armenia is making plans for a historic summer in 2027, as its basketball federation has applied to enter men’s and women’s U16, U18, and U20 teams in the European Championships for the very first time.
Armenia is poised for a groundbreaking achievement in the realm of youth basketball as its federation has officially submitted applications to enter men’s and women’s U16, U18, and U20 teams into the European Championships for the first time. This initiative marks a significant step forward for Armenian basketball, expanding the nation’s representation on the continental stage.
The applications encompass all six youth national teams, with specific divisions outlined for each category. The men’s teams are set to compete in the following divisions: U16 in Division B, U18 in Division C, and U20 in Division B. Meanwhile, the women’s teams will enter U16 and U18 in Division C and U20 in Division B.
Historically, Armenia has fielded a maximum of five youth teams in a single year, comprising three men’s and two women’s squads. The introduction of a six-team lineup will enable the country to compete across all age categories from U16 through U20, significantly enhancing its youth basketball program.
These tournaments are slated to take place in July and August 2027, providing an exciting opportunity for young athletes to showcase their talent on an international platform.
