Alina Charaeva has made history by winning her first WTA 125 singles title while proudly representing Armenia. The 24-year-old athlete triumphed over Germany’s Noma Noha Akugue with a score of 6-3, 6-4 in the final match of the Valle d’Aosta Ladies Open held in Courmayeur, Italy on Sunday.

Charaeva, who was seeded second in the tournament, demonstrated her skill and determination by achieving five victories over the course of the competition. Notably, she battled through a tough semifinal against France’s Elsa Jacquemot, which she won in three sets before decisively clinching the championship in straight sets.

This victory marks Charaeva’s second career WTA 125 singles title, following her earlier win in Midland earlier this year. This championship is particularly significant as it is her first since she began representing Armenia on the international stage, highlighting her commitment to her heritage and the growing presence of Armenian athletes in professional sports.
