Deportivo Armenio, a soccer club in Argentina, recently celebrated its Armenian roots by unveiling a special jersey dedicated to the legendary Martín Karadagian and his wrestling show, Titanes en el Ring, during a match against Argentino de Quilmes.

Deportivo Armenio, a soccer club deeply rooted in the Armenian heritage of Argentina, recently unveiled a special jersey in tribute to the iconic Martín Karadagian and his influential television show, Titanes en el Ring. The unveiling took place during a match against Argentino de Quilmes on October 24 at Estadio Armenia, marking a significant celebration of cultural identity.

Founded on November 2, 1962, Deportivo Armenio has been a pivotal part of Argentina’s Armenian community. Located in Ingeniero Maschwitz, Buenos Aires province, the club competes in the Primera B Metropolitana, which is the third tier of Argentine football. Its vibrant identity is reflected in the club’s colors—red, blue, and orange—and the image of Mount Ararat emblazoned on its crest, symbolizing the club’s heritage.

Martín Karadagian, an Armenian Argentine professional wrestler, is celebrated for creating Titanes en el Ring, a wrestling show that captured the hearts of many Argentine families and became a cultural phenomenon. Interestingly, both Titanes en el Ring and Deportivo Armenio were born in the same year, 1962, forging a unique connection between the two.

Over sixty years later, Deportivo Armenio continues to honor this heritage, integrating Karadagian’s legacy into its sporting narrative, thus bridging the worlds of soccer and wrestling in Argentina.
