In a bold declaration, UFC fighter Charles Oliveira believes his marketability could propel him ahead of Arman Tsarukyan for the next lightweight title shot, contingent on his performance at UFC 335 against Diego Lopes.

In a recent statement, UFC fighter Charles Oliveira expressed confidence that his drawing power could position him ahead of Arman Tsarukyan for the next UFC lightweight title shot. Speaking to MMA Fighting, Oliveira acknowledged Tsarukyan’s current standing as a contender but emphasized that securing a victory against Diego Lopes at UFC 335 on December 12 would bolster his own claim to the title.

Oliveira stated, “I think Arman is there to fight for the title. However, if we’re going to talk about name value, what do I think? I think I sell a lot more than Arman. So I could move ahead of Arman.” He further suggested that a win over Lopes could set up a potential rematch with Tsarukyan for the vacant lightweight championship, especially if Justin Gaethje decides to retire.

Notably, Tsarukyan previously defeated Oliveira by a split decision at UFC 300 in April 2024 and has since showcased his striking prowess by knocking out Mauricio Ruffy in the first round at UFC 331. The question remains: should Tsarukyan be favored for the next title shot?

As the lightweight division continues to heat up, Oliveira’s upcoming fight could be pivotal in determining the next contender for the title.
