Armenia made a strong impression at the U23 World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas, winning two silver medals on the second day of competition. Gaspar Terteryan and Martik Petrosian both achieved podium finishes, narrowly missing gold in their respective weight classes.

In a remarkable showing at the U23 World Wrestling Championships held at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Armenia secured two silver medals on the second day of competition. Gaspar Terteryan in the 72 kg category and Martik Petrosian in the 82 kg category both showcased their skills, narrowly missing out on gold. Terteryan lost a close match with a score of 4-3, while Petrosian fell just short, ending his bout at 2-1.

Yurik Hoveyan also represented Armenia in the 67 kg category, finishing fifth after a successful repechage match. However, he was ultimately defeated by Iran’s Mohammad Kamali in the bronze medal bout. Meanwhile, Samvel Terteryan, competing in the 77 kg division, achieved three victories before succumbing to a 5-1 loss in the semifinals. He is set to compete for bronze on October 14. Aramayis Harutyunyan, in the 130 kg category, will return in repechage following earlier rounds.

Unfortunately, Manvel Khachatryan (55 kg), Yuri Karapetyan (63 kg), and Vigen Nazaryan (87 kg) faced early exits from their respective tournaments. The U23 World Wrestling Championships continue to highlight the talents of Armenia’s young wrestlers as they strive for success on the global stage.
