Armenia’s head coach, Yeghishe Melikyan, expressed his dissatisfaction with the officiating, particularly questioning Montenegro’s opening goal. He claimed that Erik Piloyan was fouled just before the ball deflected off a defender into the net, leading to what Melikyan described as an own goal in the 20th minute.
Despite the early setback, Armenia managed to equalize twice during the match. Artur Serobyan found the net in the 34th minute, and Eduard Spertsyan followed suit in the 65th, demonstrating the team’s resilience.
