Armenia’s men’s national lacrosse team has been drawn into Group A for the 2026 European Sixes Lacrosse Championships, set to take place from November 10 to 18 at the Mediterranean Sports Hub in Salou, Spain. The group includes notable teams such as Great Britain, Latvia, Poland, and Türkiye.
This tournament is significant as it features twenty-three teams divided into four groups, with five spots available for European teams at the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships. Great Britain enters the competition as a Pot 1 seed, while Armenia aims to build on its recent success, having secured a third-place finish at the 2025 Men’s EuroLax Sixes Cup in Portugal. In that tournament, Armenia displayed a strong performance, concluding with a 4-1 record, including a victory over Switzerland White, the eventual runner-up.
Achieving a top-five finish in Salou would qualify Armenia for the inaugural 16-team world sixes championship in Colorado Springs, Colorado, next October. This event serves as the primary qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, with five Olympic spots available in each competition. However, no Olympic berth will be awarded during the tournament in Spain.
The sixes format of lacrosse will debut as an Olympic medal sport in 2028, featuring six players per side and eight-minute quarters, along with a 30-second shot clock. As Armenia prepares for Group A in November, their focus remains on securing their spot in the world championship and striving for Olympic qualification.
