Armenia’s men’s national lacrosse team has been drawn into a challenging Group A for the upcoming 2026 European Sixes Lacrosse Championships, set to take place in Spain this November.
Armenia’s men’s national lacrosse team is set to compete in Group A at the 2026 European Sixes Lacrosse Championships, alongside formidable opponents including Great Britain, Latvia, Poland, host Spain, and Türkiye. The tournament is scheduled to take place from November 10 to 18 at the Mediterranean Sports Hub in Salou, Spain.
This championship will see a total of twenty-three teams divided into four groups, with five coveted spots available for European teams at the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships. Great Britain, entering the draw as a Pot 1 seed, poses a significant challenge. However, Armenia arrives with a strong track record, having recently secured a third-place finish at the 2025 Men’s EuroLax Sixes Cup in Portugal, where they achieved an impressive 4-1 record in round-robin play, including a victory over the eventual runner-up, Switzerland White.
Performing well in Salou is crucial for Armenia, as a top-five finish will grant them a place in the inaugural 16-team world sixes championship in Colorado Springs, Colorado, next October. This event serves as the primary qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, with five Olympic places up for grabs across various competitions, although no Olympic berths will be awarded in Spain.
The sixes format of lacrosse, which will be featured at the LA28 Olympics, consists of six players per side, eight-minute quarters, and a 30-second shot clock, marking lacrosse’s return to the Olympic Games as a medal sport for the first time since 1908. As the tournament approaches, Armenia’s focus shifts to preparing for Group A in November.
