Karen Khachanov’s remarkable journey at the US Open concluded in the semifinals on September 11, 2026, as he faced off against top seed Alexander Zverev. This marks Khachanov’s return to the final four in New York for the first time since 2022, showcasing a notable resurgence after entering the tournament ranked No. 50 in the world.

Throughout the tournament, the 30-year-old displayed exceptional skill, achieving significant victories over higher-seeded players, including No. 3 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime and No. 14 Learner Tien. His performance continued to gain momentum as he advanced past Alexander Blockx in the quarterfinals, setting the stage for his semifinal clash against Zverev.

In the semifinal match, Zverev took the opening set 6-3 and narrowly edged a tense second-set tiebreak. The match escalated into another grueling tiebreak in the third set, showcasing the high stakes and intensity of the competition.

Although Khachanov fell short of reaching his first Grand Slam final, he leaves New York with his third career major semifinal appearance and his best Grand Slam result since the 2023 Australian Open, marking a promising chapter in his tennis career.
