In a significant move for both player and club, 21-year-old Armenia international Karlen Hovhannisyan has officially signed a five-year contract with Russian Premier League side FC Akron Tolyatti after leaving FC Pyunik.
Hovhannisyan’s transfer marks a new chapter in his burgeoning career as he transitions to one of the top leagues in Eastern Europe. The young talent’s impressive journey began with a return to FC Pyunik in June 2025 after fulfilling his mandatory military service. During this period, he showcased his skills at army club BKMA, where he made 53 appearances, scoring four goals and contributing one assist.
Upon rejoining his boyhood club, Hovhannisyan quickly became a key player, earning accolades such as Player of the Season. His performances caught the attention of the national team selectors, leading to his debut for Armenia against Belarus in March.
Leaving Pyunik, he concludes his tenure with 38 first-team appearances, two goals, and one assist. As Hovhannisyan embarks on this new journey with FC Akron Tolyatti, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how he adapts to the challenges of the RPL.
