Ararat-Armenia learned its eight UEFA Europa League league phase opponents in Friday’s draw in Monaco, with a trip to AC Milan’s San Siro headlining the Armenian champions’ historic European campaign.
The Armenian champions will play four home matches and four away matches against eight different clubs from across Europe. Ararat-Armenia will host AZ Alkmaar, Sparta Prague, Celje and NEC Nijmegen in Armenia, while travelling to face AC Milan, Red Bull Salzburg, Jagiellonia Białystok and Torreense. The away fixtures will take the club to Italy, Austria, Poland and Portugal, while opponents from the Netherlands, Czech Republic and Slovenia will visit Armenia.
Under the competition format, each of the 36 clubs plays eight league phase matches within a single overall table. The top eight teams advance directly to the Round of 16, while those finishing ninth through 24th enter the knockout phase playoffs.
The exact order of fixtures, dates and kickoff times have not yet been confirmed. UEFA is expected to publish the complete Europa League league phase schedule no later than Sunday, August 30.
Ararat-Armenia became the first Armenian club to reach the Europa League league phase after coming through the playoff round, setting up one of the biggest European campaigns in Armenian club football history.
