Armenia’s Women’s Basketball Team Achieves Fourth Place at 2026 FIBA Championship
Competing valiantly at the 2026 FIBA Women’s European Championship for Small Countries in Peja, Kosovo, Armenia’s women’s national basketball team secured a commendable fourth place finish, showcasing their determination and skill despite facing tough competition.
The Armenian women’s national basketball team concluded their campaign at the 2026 FIBA Women’s European Championship for Small Countries with a record of 1–3, ultimately finishing in fourth place. Their journey began with a notable victory against Andorra, where they won 63–54 in the group stage. This victory allowed them to progress to the championship playoffs, a significant achievement for the team.
In the semifinals, Armenia faced off against Malta, who would go on to win the championship. Unfortunately for Armenia, they suffered a heavy defeat, ending the game with a score of 107–52. This loss pushed the team into the third-place game, where they encountered the host nation, Kosovo. Despite a spirited effort, Armenia fell short once again, losing 86–52.
Malta ended the tournament undefeated with a perfect record of 4–0, claiming the gold medal, while Albania secured the silver and Kosovo took home the bronze. Armenia’s performance, particularly their victory over Andorra, highlights their growing presence in international basketball.
