Jean Bekirian, a 23-year-old French-Armenian golfer, met with Armenia’s Ambassador to France, Arman Khachatryan, at the opening ceremony of Armenia’s new embassy in Paris. Bekirian was one of several Armenian sports figures invited to the diplomatic reception, which also featured notable attendees such as Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot.
Bekirian, who has made significant strides in the realm of golf, became the first Armenian golfer to make the cut on the prestigious DP World Tour during the Qatar Masters in 2025. This milestone, achieved after earning his tour card through the rigorous Qualifying School, marks a historic moment for Armenian golf. He has quickly risen in prominence, representing Armenia on one of golf’s most celebrated platforms and inspiring a new generation of athletes from his home country.
