Olympic Greco-Roman Wrestling: Artur Aleksanyan’s Quest For Second Straight Gold Off To Strong Start
Artur Aleksanyan is one step closer to becoming the first ever Armenian to win two gold medals.
The Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler dismantled his first two opponents with relative ease to advance to the semifinals of the 97-kg bracket at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Aleksanyan defeated Uzur Dzhuzupbekov of Kyrgyzstan, 4-1, in the Round of 16 before dominating Finland’s Arvi Savolainen in the quarterfinals. He will now face Iran’s Mohammad Hadi Saravi in the semifinals later Monday for a shot to compete in his second career Olympic gold medal match.
