UEFA Champions League: FC Alashkert Eliminated After Dropping Second Leg Of Qualifying Round
FC Alashkert’s quest to advance in the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League tournament has come to an end.
The 2021 Armenian Premier League champions dropped the second leg of the second qualifying round, 3-1, against Moldovan squad Sheriff Tiraspol on Wednesday. Alashkert lost the first leg last week, 1-0, to lose the aggregate, 4-1.
Bosnian forward Aleksandar Glisic was the lone goal scorer for Alashkert.
In the first qualifying round, Alashkert was victorious against Welsh squad Connah’s Quay Nomads, 3-2 on aggregate.
Alashkert still has a shot to qualify for the UEFA Europa League tournament. After their Champions League loss, they will now face Kairat of Kazakhstan in the third qualifying round of the Europa League on August 5th and 12th.
