Olympic men’s gymnastics 2021 REsults: Russia’s Artur Dalaloyan Dominates While Hurt In Debut

Artur Dalaloyan isn’t letting a severed Achilles tendon stop him.

The Armenian gymnast representing Russia put on a show on basically one leg during the men’s gymnastics all-around qualification event, accumulating a score of 85.957, good enough for sixth overall. Dalaloyan qualified for the individual all-around finals for a chance to medal in his Olympic debut. He will also compete for Team Russia in the team final.

Dalaloyan isn’t far removed from a devastating injury which left him with a severed Achilles tendon that needed surgery.

Dalaloyan won individual all-around gold during the 2018 World Championships in Doha. He also won gold in the floor exercise routine in the same event. The following year, he won gold as part of the team event with Russia in the 2019 World Championships in Stuttgart.
